Homemade Caramel Sauce Recipe

This easy caramel sauce recipe is amazingly creamy and so delicious.

It can be used in brownies, cupcakes, pies but our favourite one is pancakes.  With this sauce drizzled over them they are amazing. 

This simple homemade caramel sauce is quick to make. If you are in need of a yummy sauce in a hurry, it takes just 15 minutes.

It is also very reasonably priced to make and doesn’t break the bank.  So nice to have a jar stored in the fridge waiting for that moment that we want something sweet.

Its always a good idea to have your ingredients weighed out for this caramel sauce recipe, as you will need to keep an eye your saucepan while it cooks.

A wonderful sweet caramel sauce to drizzle over many sweet desserts.

Ingredients

  • 60 ml water ( 1/4 cup )
  • 200g granulated sugar ( 1 cup )
  • 55g salted butter
  • 115g heavy cream ( 1/2 cup )

Instructions

  1. Weigh up all of the ingredients.

  2. Place the sugar and water into a heavy bottomed saucepan and stir.
  3. Bring to the boil, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
  4. When the sugar has dissolved allow the mixture to carry on boiling until it reaches a deep amber colour.  Making sure not to burn the mixture.
  5. When the amber colour has been reached, gently add the butter and whisk in.  Be careful not to splash yourself.
  6. Let it boil for a further minute and take off the heat.
  7. Add the cream gradually but with a lot of care as it does tend to boil up.
  8. Pour into a glass jar of your choice and allow to cool.
  9. Once cool store in the fridge for 3 – 4 weeks.
